He is the chef and driving force behind two well-known culinary concepts on the west coast of Puerto Rico: Pa'l Monte and Bakku Japanese Eatery. By working closely with local fishermen and farmers, he emphasizes sustainability and the importance of supporting the island's local economy and food systems. His philosophy centers on honesty in ingredients, consistency in craft, and creating meaningful experiences for every guest who sits at the table.

Throughout his career, Chef Joerick has received multiple recognitions for his work and leadership in the culinary community. In 2026, he received one of the most meaningful honors of his career by being named a James Beard Award Semifinalist for Best Chef: South, recognizing his commitment to excellence, culture, and the continued growth of Puerto Rico's gastronomic voice.
